45-12 11th St was designed to Passive House specifications, but was not certified by the German Passive House governing body due to differing climates and conflicting requirements with the US Building Code. At the time (2014) of certification, the US pulled away from German Passive House certification, replacing it with PHIUS which uses a software program known as WUFI.
